The Story Behind Happy Yourself Travel

When I traveled to Ghana, I had the privilege of meeting a market worker named Sol. At the time, I was working on a research project about happiness around the world. During our conversation, Sol shared something that has stayed with me ever since. He explained that the people of Ghana are so happy because of a simple yet profound motto they live by: happy yourself.

It means that happiness is something you create within yourself. It’s about recognizing that you have the power to find joy in the small things and to shape your perspective, no matter the circumstances.

That conversation changed my life. It helped me see that happiness isn’t something we wait for—it’s something we cultivate. Through tough times, I’ve returned to Sol’s wisdom again and again, finding strength in its simplicity.
